Windsurfing & Kitesurfing

Various athletes visit the island of Lefkada to practice their favorite water sports, which is nothing more than kitesurfing and windsurfing. The Ionian Island has ideal weather conditions for these sports, as the combination of winds with sea waves constitutes the perfect environment for these activities.

There are two main beaches for kitesurfers and windsurfers: Agios Ioannis and Vassiliki. In both, you will encounter big waves, especially at Vassiliki Beach where the winds are even stronger due to the phenomenon known as “Eric”. You can see this phenomenon almost every afternoon because of the thermal winds of the area. It is undoubtedly an unforgettable experience.

In Agios Ioannis Beach, from April to early September, winds in the afternoon range from 14 to 19 knots, so you will definitely enjoy the waves. There are several businesses where you can rent suitable equipment, in case you haven’t brought your own. If you are a beginner and are interested in participating in some courses, you can visit one of the various kitesurfing or windsurfing schools of Lefkada.
